The Hazel tree (latin: Corylus spp..) is a genus of 14-16 deciduous trees that produce hazelnuts. She is another species in the Oak Savannah ecology (mentioned in the Bur Oak write up https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/887501872/bur-oak-leaf-peach-moonstone-copper ), mimicked by restoration agriculturalists in their silvopasture systems.

My favourite Hazel tree was on a farm I lived and worked at on Vancouver Island. I believe she was a Japanese Hazelnut – her branches were a deep red-brown, and her leaves a dark purple. She was gorgeous!
