Growing up, I loved all things space. I was fascinated by the stars, planets, black holes, galaxies… all of it. It’s probably no surprise, then, that one of my favorite genres is science fiction!
My favorite planet, though, always was Saturn. Not sure why. I mean, the rings were cool, but it was more than that. There was just something about Saturn that I loved and resonated with.
When I first learned to read tarot and was introduced to the planets and their energies within astrology, I was rather saddened to see Saturn having such a “bad reputation.” The main things I saw it associated with was restriction, reprimand, punishment … all things that were viewed in such a negative way.
Once I actually began to dive into learning astrology and reading birth charts, however, I was happy to be introduced to a different perspective on Saturn.
Saturn as a necessary teacher.
Saturn as a focuser.
Saturn as important-yet-difficult life lessons that, once learned, would bring immense freedom.
As a shadow worker, I resonate deeply with this view of Saturn.
This is the work that I do!
In order to heal… in order to grow… in order to transform, we MUST go through the darkness.
That is one of Saturn’s lessons.
And the one that I was thinking of when I chose to name my shop.
But I also realized that there is this heavy and negative association that many people have with Saturn.
I don’t think it has to be that way.
I don’t think the inner work has to feel so dark and heavy and burdensome.
It’s not always easy and it’s sometimes quite painful… but the pain that comes from healing is different from the pain that comes from resistance and the initial trauma.
Going through the shadows IS painful sometimes, but it is also does feel so good to surrender to it and stop resisting who you are.
So, my work does go into those heavy Saturn themes…
But it is lighter.
It doesn’t have to be so bad.
So it is like Saturn… but “ish.”
