Gourd Lamp with Natural Scene

Gourd Light Artistry is the home of one-of-a-kind natural luminaries to accessorize  unique home decor.

I create table lamps, pendant lamps, and sconces using natural dried gourds sourced from the US or Africa.

The process for creating a lamp from a gourd involves many steps following the drying of the gourd itself, which can take several months. I clean the inside and outside of the gourd using several tools to make both the inside and outside of the gourd smooth. I then design a pattern which suits the shape of the gourd and use a variety of carving bits and burs on the surface.  Each is given a protective finish and is wired for immediate use. Each one is different and I make sure that whether lit or not the lamp looks beautiful using inks, dyes, and other embellishments so you can showcase it in a special place in your home. On a bedside table? A corner nook? Sitting among your inside plants? These are just a few of the options for where you can place your lamp.

At night, when lit, the lamp becomes magical, throwing light patterns on the nearby walls and changing both the physical atmosphere and your inner state of mind. “Calming”, “mesmerizing”, “meditative”, “spiritual”….these are a few of the comments I have received from customers describing their experiences having the lamp in their home, yoga studio, gallery, guest room among others.
