Hello! My name is Martika Lyle, and I am an artist living in Finland!
Born and raised in small town Western Kentucky, I moved to Finland in the later half of 2017. Since then I have had the privilege of devoting myself to my artwork and personal studies while exploring the amazing nature I am so blessed to have around me.
I am a self proclaimed witch, with over 22 years of practice in witchery. I have a dedicated focus on kitchen witchery & green witchcraft, and have spent much of the last two decades cooking up spells, working with herbs and infusing my creative energy into my hearth and home.
These days my witchy ways are quite freeform, not following any certain path. Mostly, as of the writing of this post, I am using my energy for self reflection, shadow work and personal growth.
Since moving to Finland, I have assumed the role of a full time artist. Having over 27 years of experience in the arts, I work with very many mediums including illustration, painting, graphic design, sculpture, embroidery, photography, editorial design and honestly so much more. Much of my artwork is inspired by fantasy media and lore as well as nature, with themes such as mushrooms, gnomes, elves, fairies, moss and other whimsical elements.
I’ve been selling my artwork and other wares online since 2013. Making my own way and exploring my own interests in my own time is basically my biggest passion, and I feel honored all the time that I can dedicate my life to this work!
In addition to these arts & crafts, I have also been working as a psychedelic deco artist since 2013. I design and build immersive UV environments for rave parties. I’ve built stages, DJ booths and chill rooms all over the Midwest and South Eastern USA including in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee as well as in Southern, Eastern and Western Finland. I have been organizing my own parties and festivals occasionally since 2016.
I am also an amateur gardener, and a hobbyist forager. If I cannot grow something that I need, there is a good chance I can find it growing wild in the forests near my home. Herbs, plants, mushrooms and anything else that is useful, I will sustainably gather and preserve for use in my magic and life.
I have been offering my foraged Amanita Muscaria mushroom caps for sale since 2018 and have a long history of positive customer experiences. In 2021, I created the Facebook group Amanita Mushroom Science and Magic, which at the time of writing this post has nearly 80K members and counting. We are the largest collective Amanita mushroom community anywhere in the world.
